Let’s create happy and healthy workplaces

ON:SONG support mental health and wellbeing in businesses worldwide, through music.

Our immersive and participatory experiences improve diversity and inclusion and enable more creative and productive workplace cultures.

We work with science and academia, and regularly carry out our own research into the outcomes of our programmes, using frameworks developed in-house over a number of years.

By demonstrating impact and returns we look to increase access to joyful and enriching singing experiences for teams, whilst strengthening the case for greater investment in proactive approaches to wellbeing.

Benefits

  • Happier, healthier employees

Feelings of positive wellbeing and an absence of negative emotions are fundamental to the overall health of an individual, enabling them to successfully overcome difficulties and flourish. Research shows that if we keep learning throughout adulthood and into later life, this can have a positive impact on maintaining and improving our mental health and wellbeing.

  • Reduced stress

During our singing sessions, your employees will experience decreased levels of the stress hormone cortisol. When they exhale for longer than they inhale (as they do when they sing) their nervous system will be calmed and they’ll feel less stressed and anxious. Heartbeats synchronise when we sing and helps us to be fully in the present moment, providing a cathartic experience away from emails, meetings and budgets.

  • Improved group cohesion

The feel-good hormones oxytocin and serotonin are released when we sing which helps to foster an increased sense of bonding and trust. The ‘ice-breaker effect’ of singing promotes fast cohesion between unfamiliar individuals, which bypasses the need for personal knowledge of group members gained through prolonged interaction.

  • Improve your bottom line

Poor mental health among employees costs UK employers £42bn – £45bn each year. This is made up primarily of absence costs, presenteeism costs and turnover costs and is an increase of about £6bn and 16% on figures from 2017. Effective wellbeing initiatives have an average return of £5 for every £1 invested, increasing to £11 for every £1 spent for initiatives like ours.
